Deanna: Did you see Danya's dad? It is so strange to see parents with tattoos. Gary: It's getting less strange every year because tattoos are so common among young adults. And you know how our culture is driven by the youth. Eventually, we'll all have tattoos. Deanna: No way, queequeg - there will be no graffiti on this temple. Gary: Darn, I guess I'll have to change my plans for our anniversary. Deanna: Okay, maybe just a little "I'm with stoopid" tattoo on my shoulder. With an arrow pointing to you.

The tee shirt set is cheaper, and painless when you get it and want to get rid of it.

I don’t have any tattoos. And I never will.

Getting tattoos demonstrates a lack of appreciation for advance planning.

Just don’t get a tat that has your lover’s name on it. You two might break up.

Nice Melville reference.

I like that line, “There’ll be no graffiti on this temple.”

Amazingly prescient. I remember going to the very first Lollapalooza, back when it was Perry Ferrell’s project and toured around the country. Awesome music, but the tents they set up behind the crowd had all kinds of things that you just didn’t see in the early 90s: people covered with tattoos, piercings, with their heads partly shaved and hair doused in odd colors. Most of the normies there were wandering through like gawkers at a freak show. Nowadays, nobody even bats an eyelash at any of those things. (Barnum would have had to lay off his “tattooed lady” in this day and age — not freaky enough!)

“Eventually, we’ll all have tattoos.” Not as long as I draw breath will I turn my body into a canvas.

BTW, I love the Queequeeg reference!

Had to Google “Queequeg”…

Is it bad I knew that was a character from Herman Melville’s ‘Moby Dick’? :) Excellent book, and great classic movie with Gregory Peck.

I have to say this 2005 strip was quite prescient. 18 years later, I don’t want a tattoo because it’ll make me look like some kid’s dad.

Only one tattoo would make me look old-fashioned. I’d rather have none at all and be considered ancient.
