So from the strips I have seen, Katy was berating her dad for selling out, and now that he hasn’t done so, she’s complaining that he didn’t get the money from selling out? Adam, tell her you stuck to your guns, tell her she should be proud of her dad’s gag reflex, not complain about it.
I can remember my dad used to tell me jokes when I was a kid, some of which were probably not that appropriate but the neighborhood kids did get quite a laugh at them when I shared them whether we fully understood them or not. Nowadays the so called dad jokes are portrayed as dad being a bumbling fool who is corny and thinks he is cool and the kids just barely put up with it and do nothing but wise crack him.
I just can’t believe the premise of honesty in advertising. I would have simply given Adam a cup of coffee he liked and simply let the reader or viewer assume the cup was the advertised coffee brand.
I can’t believe that the Flogger’s coffee was really THAT bad! Good heavens, are Adam’s senses so hypersensitive that he can’t handle a cup of bad coffee? I would think that after his many years of drinking gallon upon gallon of a variety of coffees, the palate would be kind of dulled. If the Flogger’s is so bad, why is it so (apparently) popular? I would say that a cup of less than good coffee is still better than no coffee at all!

They have a point. They should stop smiling and gag whenever he tells any dad jokes now.

My repertoire of dad jokes included such gems as this:
Me (while driving past a cemetery): “You know, the cemetery is a very popular place.”
Kids (only the first time): “Why?”
Me: “People are dying to get in.”
Adam is right. My kids were subject to my dad jokes when they were growing up, and they may have groaned, but they never gagged.
