I remember the shot in the first Superman movie (of the modern era; there were a few back in the late 40s and early 50s) where Clark Kent, looking for a place to change into Superman, glances at a phone kiosk and shakes his head. Not a word, and the allusion would be lost on today’s crowd.

I remember that scene. Great movie making.

This is exactly what lead to the demise of pay phones. When superheroes could no longer change in them, a large customer awe was lost.
