It’s amazing no-one took exception to his exemptions!

Dale Evans! Brings back memories of Saturday matinee with Gene Autry and Roy Rogers westerns in the late 40’s, early 50’s. The admission price was 12 cents for kids and the movie audience was 90% squirming vocal kids. The plot mostly consisted of chasing and killing the bad guys or Indians, not just on horses, but in cars as well. Loud cheers for shooting the bad guys and massive groans when Roy and Dale would frequently break out into song. As young as I was, I somehow knew how bad these movies were, but you went anyhow, bought your 5 cent candy bar or popcorn and endured it.

How ironic if the cast of Firefly was exempted right before the show got canceled.

Good thing. Dale Evans would have voted ‘innocent’ even if they were guilty. Uh, did Roy and Dale ever get married? Or were they ‘living in sin?’ I.e., cohabitating. She always did have a big smile on her face.

In the late seventies, my mom wanted to see the Roy Rodgers museum in Apple Valley, Ca. She also hoped to see Roy and Dale to give them a copy of a religious pamphlet my dad wrote before he passed away. The museum people told us that Roy and Dale usually hung out out at the local bowling alley. They weren’t there, but they told us how to find their house. My mom rang the door bell and Dale answered. She gave Dale the little book and asked about Roy. Dale told her is was in the back bedroom setting up the new water bed. They said good buy and off we went. That was my mom for you. :-)
