Been there; done that. Got all dressed up for a fancy celebration dinner. It was very nice, very tasty. Gastronomically unfulfilling. Then went to a nearby Italian restaurant for actual food – pizza. We were the best dressed there.
As I age, my body seems to need less food. I am at the point where I invariably leave food on the plate at a restaurant (or take it home for the chickens).
When I was younger I could eat more. I have not kept records but it seems to me that the portions have gotten larger over the years in most restaurants. But the real problem could be my meat memory dropping bits.
