Tropical Depression – When you’re down in the dumps on some cruise ship because you’re trying to figure out how you’re going to pay your maxed put credit cards that were used to pay for this stupid cruise, for the sole reason of YOU being able to brag about it on Facebook.

If you’re not already “checking in” on FaceBook, that is… what a waste of time!

Or when your postings about where you are and what you are doing are followed by your home security cams showing strangers enjoying the decor of your home while making a careful selection of your stuff. Happy sailing.

I find it annoying to have to dodge people in stores or on sidewalks that have their faces in their phones

My wife and I agreed to ignore outside commotion as much as possible during our 3 weeks in Alaska in 2007. No news, no TV, no social media…. It was heaven! When we were waiting in the airport on the way back some talking head was trying to get us spun up over the mysterious New York serial killer. We got up and went looking for someplace quieter. We didn’t need it before and didn’t need it now.I checked Reuters yesterday. The only thing of interest was the death of the Quds commander in the Iraq missile strike. Something very bad is happening in Iran to have him (the equivalent of the US commanders in charge of the Delta Force and Seals combined) in a neighboring country the same Iranian regime fought for 8 years. Nothing I need to do anything about. Other than that, nothing but noise.

Vacation is an escape from work. Facebook and all the online entertainment is an escape from work. Facebook while on vacation seems like work to me.

In the future, sociologists will call social media the downside of the electronic age; It also says all that needs to be said about the state of our society; AND I STAY COMPLETELY AWAY FROM IT!!!!

Re. waves on the top of our atmosphere: Have you considered the depth of the trough above hurricane Andrew vs. the peak of its nearest highest point? Hint, the difference was enough for me to send 20 telco outside plant techs from WI to help restore Miami service.

Being a boomer, I find socializing with friends face to face is a lovely way to socialize. The “axis of evil” now days is Facebook, Twitter and Google. Is it any wonder America has no idea what is going on in the world. Welcome to “Idiocracy.”

“Every time I see some of those idiots using their cell phones out in the wilderness, I mock them by posting a photo of them on social media!”
