Je nes sais quoi translates to “I don’t know what”, so I assume that means they are ‘mysterious’, not able to find just the right words.

Since you understand French, you should understand the word, ‘bigot.’

Did you ever notice the roads built by that Frenchman named Detour!! :-) Or what Ferdinand de Lesseps and the French tried to do in Panama before Teddy Roosevelt, John Stevens, Colonel/General George W. Goethals, and Colonel/General Dr. William C. Gorgas showed them how it SHOULD be built!!

As I recall the story, for YEARS after de Lesseps, “panamista” was sort of ‘pidgin French’ for “swindle”!

    truecanadianliberal:

It’s IMPOSSIBLE to translate French! You just stuff your mouth full of mashed potatoes and speak. The result IS French! :-)

Canada is a strange country, they had access to British politics, French culture, and American ‘know how’. They ended up with British ‘know how’, French politics, and American culture!! And it was a CANADIAN who said that!

I grew up and was educated in one of the few places in the United States where you can look DUE SOUTH and see Canada. And NO, NOT in Alaska! I’ll let YOU figure out where it is.

    ellisaana:

“Arrogance” is derived from a French word!
