Winter Solstice. In my hometown, they’re going to have a big bonfire out by our popular walking trail to celebrate. A few crazy people are planning to do a polar plunge into the nearby creek, then they’ll try to warm up by the fire. I want to go and watch, but chances are I’ll get too busy and I’ll forget to go. I will NOT be doing the polar plunge in any case.
Santa will make sure Annie has a wonderful Christmas. My sister lives 4 hours away and I hope to drive down for a quiet day with her and her great grandson if rain and snow don’t keep me off the road. The rest of the self centered argumentative family will celebrate with her on Saturday and I can’t handle their chaos this year. Not one of them has bothered to contact me about Craig’s loss so I don’t expect to be missed.
I’d rather celebrate the day after Winter Solstice because the days start getting longer. We can get our flashlights out, eat some shrimp, and make a winning wager that, yes, the daylight was a few minutes longer than the day before. And, “baaaaah, humbug!” to everyone here.
A bit of calm in the warehouse? That’s impossible with Jack and Chesney awake! On another note, saw a varied thrush while out walking today. Also got my Christmas tree up and put ornaments and lights on it. Thankfully, the cats haven’t knocked it down yet. (knock on wood.)

Though it looks like an old-fashioned telephone, this model is cordless!

Good to see that Annie and Santa are on a first-name basis.

I just finished making a big batch of fudge and I mixed some sugar cookie dough to chill overnight. It’s cookie baking time!

With Chesney, there will never be calm in the warehouse…….but that would be boring.
