National Science Fiction Day. While I am not a fan of science fiction and I don’t read it, I did write a short story n science fiction for my composition class my senior year in high school. Composition was by far my favorite class. In my story, I was living on a farm. One night I was awakened by a spaceship from the planet Kadreep when it landed in our cornfield. I met and talked with “The Great One” who was the ruler of the entire planet. The story got me an “A” and when my teacher signed my high school annual at the end of the year, he called me a “science fiction nut”.
National Buffet Day
National Cream Puff Day. I love cream puffs!
National Personal Trainer Awareness Day. I guess if you stand in too many buffet lines filling your plate and your face with too many cream puffs, you’ll need a personal trainer.
Well, I did one thing to end 2019 right (or to start off 2020 right). Every month, we can enter a sort of contest at work called VPI (Volume Producing Item). We pick an item that we think will sell well the following month (like right now it’s too late to choose a VPI for January but we can choose one for February). Around the middle of November, I picked a 2-pack of butter for my VPI for December. I was surprised nobody else had chosen it already. You can’t pick something someone has already chosen. The person getting first place in the VPI contest wins $50 which will be added to their next paycheck. Second place gets $25. I’m happy to say that I won for December and I sure can use the extra $50. I never used to even try doing a VPI because I didn’t know what to choose. For several months when I did try it, I finished way at the bottom. But I’ve started to figure out the game better now. I won first place once before (I think that was in 2018) and I’ve gotten second place twice. Second place is okay, but winning is great!
They’ll be as good as gold. Fool’s gold, that is! (Sorry if that sounds mean.) Interestingly, this is one of the rare times Chesney and Lily are getting along. On another note, saw some seagulls and crows on the way to work today.
