Georgia posted a question the other day on Facebook asking for people’s favorite comics from 2019 because she needed to pick out 8 to submit for the 2019 NCS Awards. She has already picked these 8:
But I thought it would be interesting to hear from everyone what their favorites were for 2019. I am glad she included the Sunday with Sophie strip because that is one of my all time favorites.
I like spiders. They capture bugs that I don’t like in their webs. I had a spider as a pet years ago. It made it’s home in my bathroom. Not many bugs would find their way in that room so I wanted to help the spider live. I would catch moths and bring the live moths to the spider. She would race across the web and take the moths from my fingers. She lived for weeks, laid her eggs in her sack, the little ones were born and you know how the little spiders get their start if you’re familiar with the book or movie Charlotte’s Web.
Puck doesn’t know? They drive their fangs into you, inject venom, and then, after you die, suck up the juices and flesh that is decomposing as a result of the venom. Just the thing for a chart!
Puck apparently needs to talk off-camera for a bit. And, as he knows Lupin won’t listen, he needs to be EXTREMELY CLEAR on this. In Lupin’s face, so to speak.
A few years ago, I accidentally left my garden gloves in a bed of flowers. I shook them and put them on but, a few seconds later, I felt something pinching my hand. I peeled the glove back and there, inside, was a large white spider! I did not scream or try to kill it… I like spiders and wanted them in my garden. So I lowered my hand so that the spider could crawl out and onto a rose bush. It only bit me hard enough to let me know that it was in there!
O.T. Plwismom, yesterday, you said you’re celebrating your 70th Birthday this weekend. I just wanted to belatedly wish you a Happy Birthday. When I turned 70, I decided to brag about reaching that age. It’s an accomplishment to live for 70 years!
Someone asked earlier how I’ve mainly gotten over my fear of spiders. Family members who are terrified of them need to be rescued, and I’m the elder so that’s me, lots of proximity to them as a gardener, and I made the inside of my house a spider-free zone so I’m not constantly on alert or surprised by them. Everyone needs a safe space. My niece lived with me for several years because of a new job and the local cost of housing. One morning, I woke to find a plastic container on the kitchen floor with a Post It note on top telling me that she’d let in a spider when she’d come in from work. I sighed. Like weenie mother, like weenie daugher.
Thank you to all for the Happy Birthday wishes yesterday! It was a nice day of celebration to be continued today and tomorrow. So grateful for the Orb and all its caring Orbsters! ♥

I don’t think you want to know how they bite, Lupin. It creeps me out just thinking about it.

I know that spiders are useful, but I still have arachnophobia. I leave spider catching to Paul; he puts them in a tissue and releases them outside.

♪ Spider Treats, Spider Treats, the treat the kitties all like to eat.
Tasty and delicious, too.
No teeth or stings like the bees all do!
Look out, let’s have some Spider Treats!
…….
In the running at night, just around 2 am,
Like a streak of light,
A refreshing snack cats demand!
…….
Spider Treats, Spider Treats
Tasty and delicious to eat!
Do the cats all demand,
The Nom Nom flavor from arachnid land?
To them, after they have a nibble,
After a bowl of kibble,
They want their Spider Treats!
