When was the last time you had your temperature taken with a glass mercury thermometer? Do kids look at that picture of the gorilla and wonder why he’s wearing a goofy hat and eating his sucker backwards?
@jimmjonzz This ought to placate your ignorance: the second word of the second sentence in your response is incorrect. You are using “its” as a contraction, in this case an abbreviated way of saying “it is,” not as a possessive…therefore it requires the placement of an apostrophe between the letter t and the letter s. No doubt you will now say something snarky…or blame this whole thing on the typographical omission of that cursed apostrophe.
I heard that was true of plants in general: When their leaves are damaged, they emit a chemical that attracts insects or other animals that look for insects to prey upon. The chemical message was described as “Help! I’m being eaten!”

And who was monitoring her pulse for six hours? Methinks she had an off and on (very weak) pulse during that time.

Audrey’s case is incredible. So is Jean Hilliard’s. I recommend reading about her, too.

Since a humpback whale can weigh around 30 tons, that would be about 1.7% of extra weight.

A rule of thumb in regards to trying to revive someone who is hypothermic is you’re not dead until you’re warm and dead.

We’re lucky King Kong didn’t have a cold. Imagine what a sneeze could do and a cough would be like a hurricane!

There’s a reason why “They’re not dead until they’re warm and dead” is a saying.
