We’ve got one of those books that tells you all the places that are too expensive, so you already know it before you leave home. It’s called the Michelin guide.
We went to a place where we had to pay extra for sides…$80.00 for a steak, $14.00 for a potato, $12.00 for mixed vegetables…That’s the last anniversary dinner I ever go to.
Japanese Restaurants (the ones in Japan) don’t post menus. They have plastic food replicas i the windows. This made it easy on us gaijins: all we had to do is pull the waitperson outside, point and say “I want one of those.”

If a restaurant sticks a menu on the window with no prices listed. You can’t afford to eat there.

Better find a place that uses comic sans.

I’m always scared off by those menu items labelled “market price”.

The Rose and Thorn, exquisite but painful.

I do not buy drinks from a restaurant that does not post the drink prices, and there are several who do not post.

If can’t read what’s on the menu, you probably can’t afford it.

Or not having any prices on the menu.
