All those books aren’t gone…
Many can still be seen….
They might be holding doors open, leveling tables, or providing booster seats for three year olds at the Thanksgiving table.
I think all those books are at my house. My library has grown steadily over the last 30 years.

Mine is in between those two panels: I still have the books but they are collecting dust and taking up space…
I still have half those books, a boatload of hard comics, such as Dennis the Menace, Pearls before Swine, and Calvin, and a boatload of other books. Nothing, can replace the feel of a book, and, if the power goes out, I still have something to do!
