I was in Chicago a few years back and noted there was just one homeless person set up per block of Michigan ave north of the loop. Then up early one morning I was them hiking in with what could only be called their sets, to get set up before most of the business/tourist people arrived. it was nothing but a set up.
I remember the ‘80s pretty well but I don’t remember the Golden Age of the homeless. I just remember big hair bands, hari krishna, Terminator, and Magnum PI. There were a lot of wine coolers in there somewhere as well.
Comic Relief (USA), started by Bob Zmuda, was a really big thing in the 80s and continued into the 90s, though I recall the later ones, even into the boom years of Clinton’s second term, weren’t making quite as much, and the last (until a Katrina-focused special in 2006) was in ’98.

The first reward is the act itself. The second reward is the community of those who experience the first reward.

In Donald Trump’s “Booming economy” even homelessness is booming! Honolulu has more blue tarps housing homeless every year.
