Hey guys, may I ask for some virtual hugs for my sister Brenda? She had to say goodbye to her best kitty friend today, Smoke. Smoke would have been 19 next month. My sis had her and her sister Ziggy (now gone) from the day they were born. Sis also inherited Smoke’s mom, Mama Sheeba (also gone to the RB) after our mom passed away many years ago. Of course she loved them all, but Smoke was like a child to her, as cliche as that may sound. Thanks in advance for any good vibes you can send her way.
This is strange, because she is a former house cat. What did her Awful Owners do for holidays? Or where did they keep her? She seemed to be happy with them until they dumped her.
Meanwhile, Maverick and Ember puzzle over the semi-annual appearance of the Mother In Law, this time with the added adventure of a few dozen boxes (all taped shut, much to Ember’s dismay) scattered about our home.
For anyone who remembers that Leo (16+ yrs) has been waning with kidney failure since Sept, we have an appointment on Monday (these days you have to wait for an appt!) to help him rest peacefully. He’s down from 9 lbs on Jan 8 to 7 lbs 4 oz today (I bought a baby scale). He’s withdrawn and sometimes doesn’t seem to know who we are, just that we’re nice people. He is spending his last days in a warm snuggly window seat watching the bird feeders right outside the window through the one way glass. (see avatar change this am) I won’t be leaving the house at all til then. He’s been a good boy who slept on my belly most every night for the past 8 yrs and we don’t want to take the chance that after Monday he might suffer til we can get him in, or have to go to the emergency vet where he doesn’t know anyone. We’ll still have his litter mate Merlin and 9 yr old Luna. Someday his ashes will rest with mine.
Frankly, for us, every day is “Love Your Pet Day.” Which brings me to the question: How many of us have pet peeves, and what do you feed them? Mine seem to do very well on a diet of news.
I’m about to leave for the endodontist’s office for a root canal—assuming he can find his way through the calcification to find what’s left of the roots. If not, they won’t be able to put a permanent crown on the tooth which will mean bye-bye tooth #15. (No, I haven’t lost 14 teeth in the past. #15 is also known as 12th year molar upper left side.)
I understand the child thought. I am spending over five thousand to have a dog and kitty run in my back yard. I am very rural and we have eagles and owls and coyotes and even the occasional moose. If anything happened to my fur babies it would destroy me. So from me and my three, I send gentle woofs and paw pats to your sister. The fact that Smoke was 19 is a testament to how awesome your sister was in taking care of her fur baby. Bless her and bless you.
Hi Orbsters, I’m back! I know, didn’t miss me since I don’t post often, but this time, it was to spend a day at Providence St. Peter’s hospital in Olympia for angioplasty, with two brand new stent implants. This brings my total to 7 out of 4 times having the procedure. First time, with one stent was accute myocardial infarction at age 32. So I started young. Feeling SO much better. Especially since I skipped the heart attack part and it was caught on a stress test before hand. I recommend if you have to go to St Pete’s BRING YOUR OWN FOOD. Their hospital food is all overcooked and dried out! And their “coffee” of all the evils I’ve encountered in this world,,, OMG this is the most vile. The first time in my life I could not drink my coffee!!

Why bother about silly hyooman rituals, cat? All you need to know is where hyoomans keep all their food.

From the Mary Tyler Moore Show: Love is All Around
Who can solve a mystery and still smile?
Who can take a few stray clues and figure them out all awhile?
Well it’s you, girl and you should know it,
With help from all your friends any thing, you can do it!
Mysteries all around, no need to worry,
We’re all here for you, we’ll help you and hurry,
You’re gonna solve them after all!
You’re gonna solve them after all!

No blizzard’s day to snuggle through
No Boy-cut paper hearts to give away
No clovers of spring, no song to sing
In fact here’s just an ordinary day
No April rain
No flying flowers in bloom
No blistering heat within the month of June
But what I say, is something true
That you’ll get used to rituals our People do
No summer’s high
No bug of July
No harvest moon to dance away one cool fall night
No autumn breeze
No falling leaves
To chase away as they’re falling from the skies
No decorative Pucks
No Halloween
No climbing the Christmas tree the People bring
But what it is, though old so new
Will fill your heart like your old People could ever do
We’re so glad to say we love you
We’re so happy to say how much we care, we do
We just hope you love it here, too
And we mean it from the bottom of our hearts
