    I don’t want my art to be misunderstood. Why try to convey my message only for it to be misinterpreted?

    Art is NOT linear communication. So “understand” isn’t one of the primary motivations. Seems to me.

    Both great art and terrible art are often misunderstood in their own time, so being misunderstood isn’t much of an indicator.
