Lio must be seeking inspiration from Jonathan Richman:
“Well some people try to pick up girls and get called a–holes / This never happened to Pablo Picasso.”
Great cartoon. I didn’t think this crayon drawing by Picasso was so late, 1958. Note that Eva went to the exposition, and only got a balloon, with a Picasso signature. Lio offers her much more, his love with flowers from Picasso.

I hope Eva doesn’t turn her nose up at this!

I think I see a “Nina” in the painting.

On the Ten Scale - this one goes to 11…

Only Lio could think to ‘borrow’ flowers from a painting in a matter of seconds..
Another original concept by Mark….

I have to agree - this one is brilliant.
And I have a print of this particular Picasso. Love it!

Just scratch out “OF FLOWERS” in the title, and everything will be fine.

Do you think Mom knew what I meant by “picked” when I brought her the neighbors flower garden?

If I know my Eva Rose, in the next panel, Lio’s going to look like he just stepped out of the ‘Guernica’ painting

Just don’t try that with a Pollock.

For a Pollock, just eat a bunch of chili dogs and stick your finger down your throat.

Oooh, you’re gonna be in trouble if they find out about that, Lio.

Here’s what the original looks like.

Knowing Eva, we’ll soon see her rendering of “Guernica” with Lio as the star.
