Why would you (Shaky) pick out the head of a private detective agency, whose husband is a celebrated crime fighter and the city’s chief detective, as his shakedown target? You’d think he would target Joe or Mary Nobody. He’s gonna become the pigeon who was turned into cat food before it’s all over.
And in two hours the tape of his attempted shake-down and arrest will be on YouTube as a warning, and to encourage other victims to come forward for the prosecution. This one seems too easy/simple – maybe there’s some twist coming in the plot.
There is some damn good work in this comic. The art, the character development. Even if this particular story arc is a bit, well, ahem, shaky Dick Tracy is still one of the best.
Wouldn’t it have been more productive for him to blackmail the guy in prison, demanding money in exchange for the alibi that Shaky told Tess he could provide?
1-JAY BOGART: I’m doing isometric exercises in the mirror. See? I push my hands together and the result is my amazing pecs. WHATSRNAME: Where are you? I can’t see through these stage glasses.
2-JB: Never mind. I’m finished. Say, I heard something interesting the other day…
3-…It seems you can spot the villains in Netflix movies and TV programs by the phone they use. Apple won’t allow villains to use i-Phones. Ain’t that something? Wonder if there’s a ‘tell’ as to who the villains are in this play?
WHATSRNAME: Cough, cough…yeah. I think maybe there is…and no, it’s not your overuse of Brut cologne.
uh-she has said ‘no’ twice. what on earth makes you htink today will be ANY different? i mean it will. the police will have the place staked out but what makes YOU think you’ve got an in?
Tracy MAY have Tess play along for awhile just to make sure there is enough evidence, besides the presumed recordings from the agency office, AND, his (Shaky v2) visit to the guy in prison he wants to say that he is his alibi, to shake Shaky v2 into the county jail, waiting trail. I’m sure Edison is bright enough to know when to cut her losses.
Once again, the comments are more interesting than the story. Wrap up quickly tomorrow? Stay tuned. BTW, thanks for that research on the etymology of “pigeon” Neil. I don’t think anyone would have known that. It’s a real education. Finally; I wonder if Shakes rented that tux just for the extortion play? Sharp dressed (con) man
you know if you’re down on your luck and just looking for cat food funds, if you told the Tracy’, they’d probably help and you might make new friends in the process and maybe find some legit work

Good morning™, delusional dunderheads !
What is he on ?! How many MCU people will be waiting unseen for this pigeon to stroll in expecting a handout ?

Will Edison slink away quietly, like Sprocket, when this is all over ?

pigeon: definition 3b at https://www.dictionary.com/browse/pigeon
Slang a person who is easily fooled or cheated; dupe.
I think Tess is anything but that. Shaky is not in for what he’s expecting at Tess’s office.

Odds are 50-50 the ending of this story will be lamer than the Fabulous Roboto story.

Shaky, you are really something!
How many con artists do you know who get dressed up in a tux for a simple extortion racket?
If Edison is as smart as she might be, she’ll be planning her exit strategy now….

I hope Shaky encounters Dick Tracy at the Tracy Agency and leaves “all shook up” if you get my meaning.
