    Vender should be spelled vendor.

He might be right. I put an eel in my mother’s vegetable crisper and every time she opened the fridge, it would return to life. My rump still remembers the penance.

Re: the Great Vender/Vendor Debate of 2011: Teresa - you caved too soon (what have I told about allowing the nitpicking scolds to draw you into an admission without first consulting the T.D.L. legal department?). Some words admit multiple spellings. According to the O.E.D. both vender and vendor are acceptable. While vendor may be the more standard of the two, what the hell about Frog Applause is standard in the first place?

I wish to go on record as saying that for many years I have advocated English language spelling reform. This has already been accomplished in other languages such as German and Swedish. For example, this sentence: “I wish I had enough dough to buy a plow for the slough.” would be spelled: “I wis I had enuf do to by a plou for the slu.” Think of the billions of dollars of ink we could save. Or de bilyons of pixels.

Back when I was a smoker in the mid-60’s, ciggies were 33¢ a pack, $3.00 a carton. At least it was a lot cheaper to kill yourself back then. For what it’s worth, I ruined my lungs, even smoking for only 6 years. I’m still paying the price.

France, Ireland, Mali, Jamaica, Canada, Mexico, and 47 of 50 US states.

I’ve only had a small glimpse, but enough to realize how wonderful other countries are. I’m also fortunate to have been pretty much everywhere in the contiguous US.

My hat is off to those posters with paragraphs of experience :) Sounds like a great time.
