Oh how I remember that! We watched Marlin Perkins Wild Kingdom too! And on Saturdays (I think) we watched Lost in Space. At the time, the couch extended a bit into the hallway, perfect for 5-6 year old me to hide behind when the monsters showed up.. LOL!

Before Mickey Mouse, Disney was known for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit:

I think tv was more fun before cable and vcr’s. You made sure that you were in front of it for your favorites. We watched it as a family whether it was Gilligan’s Island or Ed Sullivan. We waited for the once a year showing of The Wizard of Oz and we were thrilled when we got a color tv. Hubby and i started watching shows from the 50’s and early 60’s and so much better than what is on now.

Lucky city folk.. we had some humongous antenna that required frequent adjusting.. one person watching the one channel (channel 4 Spokane) and hollering to the “adjuster” about which position had less snow. Very subjective and frequently led to alternating the hollerer and the adjuster.

I had to hold the antennae for my father during the games we watched ….Knick’s, Jet’s and the Met’s.
