My wife is a Congregational Nurse. One of her jobs is to attend funerals. Some of our members have been with the church since childhood and they are now in their 90’s. They are well-liked and when they pass, their funerals are well-attended – mostly by their friends who are also in their 90’s.
Whenever there is a large church gathering, especially when children and /or senior citizens are involved, my wife attends. It’s nice to have a nurse handy.
My wife has been temporarily relieved of these duties.
So far has history is concerned, Death has never taken a break. But, then, neither has the human desire to bring new lives into the world. It isn’t always an even trade but it works.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of events and gatherings around the world still taking place for death to visit by disbelievers and those that simply just don’t get it…or worship the economy more than their life and those of others. I also find it concerning that people trying to help others are not always practicing protocol or even common sense.
I just saw a post in a group I belong to about a well attended event that took place in Tennessee just last Saturday. WTF? You’d think they’d know by now what a bad idea that was.

He can just go to Hobby Lobby or a megachurch, they don’t see any reason to shut down.

Comics usually have at least an ounce of humour. This has none.

Even funerals are postponed. The ultimate irony.
