    Ask me about the $400 toilet with a $3 wax ring that failed. Hidden slow leak covered by ‘required’ insulation. Cost a couple of grand to fix the wrecked subfloor/tile. A figging $3 wax seal with a tiny leak!

    I ran into that a ton when people would call me to fix a leak in their roof. Some of the stuff they tried…

    It also made it harder to fix because of what they did to it. It wasn’t all bad though, more work to fix it usually meant more money to fix it.

    In my county, I am not making this up, there is a firm called “The Polite Plumber”. Their trucks are emblazoned with their motto, “We’ll never ask how it happened!”
