All corporate interests are against liberty. All individuals are against others’ liberty as soon as it interferes with what they want. Government can also protect your liberty from being threatened by others.

I thought that was when the Pope defecates. You know, in the woods.

RE: Op-Ed: There’s several thoughts along this line. One, of course, is the TANSTAAFL concept we discussed into the ground a few days back. Another is NIMBY – “Not In My Back Yard”, the idea that no one ever should have to put up with ‘undesirable’ people, things, or activities (such as a prison, sanitarium, half-way-house, juvenile home, loud neighbors, children dancing in the rain in their underpants, etc).

Then there is GIGFY – Government Is Good For You. The antithesis is, of course, FIGBY – Freedom Is Good For You. Most times this pair seems to have no grey area in people’s minds, which is sad. We need a bit of both to live well.

But the one that most specifically applies here seems to me to be MYOB. Look it up at https://encyclopedia2.thefreedictionary.com/MYOB It’s a way of saying either that someone’s nose is too close to my eye … or reminding that people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
