Does this mean that Jack has been Captain Eddie’s navigator the whole time?

Joe gets to go home by air!

it kinda explains Eddie’s travels throughout the comics.

Hopefully, Joe and Eddie didn’t bring Covid-19 to the island with them.

My question is this: Is Jack simply seeing this through clairvoyance or is he actually making it happen? That latter option is very scary.

This plot of this story arc is beginning to sound a bit like the finale of the wonderful TV series “St. Elsewhere,” where it was revealed that the entire series was in the mind of a child with autism with his snow globe of the hospital.

It almost seems that Jack is Nebbish for Cap’n Eddie

Um… I don’t think Jack is a Human. He is a deity of sorts (or a marvel mutant)

I know what’s happening! I’ve been trained for this a long time!

I see this as the mind of an autistic child showing the hidden intelligence and capability.

Capt’n Eddie and Jeffery have something in common: they both can manipulate spacetime and suspend reality as we know it.

My wife and her special ed teacher friends say Bill Gates is “on the spectrum”.

@khmo: Agree. Try as we might, we will never be able to learn the exact dimension of such abilities, considering that each form of autism is different for each child. Like Jeffrey, we can only learn to accommodate it out of love for the child. And that, friends, is a universal remedy for many ailments, physical or mental.

The name of Eddie’s boat:Anoesis – a state of mind consisting of pure sensation or emotion without cognitive content.

Seems appropriate.

This at least explains what’s been happening to Captain Eddie for a couple or three years. Doesn’t much explain before the kid was born, but maybe it runs in the family. I mean, we haven’t met the mother and father yet.

The human mind is a magnificent miracle. Not only does it give us wonders like our boy Jack but it gives us creative genius’ like our Wiley. Bless them both. Bless us all.

Wasn’t the latter the plot line from an ancient Twilight Zone or Outer Limits episode?

Maybe all of Eddie’s stories weren’t made up…seems Jack’s unseen world influences/affects people’s situations in unorthodox, yet helpful ways.

Ya know. That island was safe in its isolation. Hope Joe didn’t bring the virus with him.

Jack is a lot like Billy Mumy in “It’s a Good Life”. On a conscious level he’s like the protagonist in LeGuin’s “The Lathe of Heaven”. Now there is a weird tale.

some of the people on the spectrum, like Jack, are quite magical. I know mine are.

So Captain Eddy’s misadventures are the musings of an autistic little boy? Holy St Elsewhere Batman!

The literature doesn’t mention clairvoyance as a characteristic of autism. Having seen too many boats myself, I don’t consider it a gift. Over time, it tends to rub some of the new off of a day.

I remember seeing the occasional “Jack’s World” installment of “Non Sequitur” thru the years, often (usually) on Sundays, thinking that each one was just a one-off unrelated to anything else (like the Wiley bears). Now I find out that his family and nabors have been here all along. The only other strip I can think of that’s this well integrated is Garry Trudeau’s “Doonesbury”.
