My mother had one when she was 80. Turns out she did have colon cancer and had the surgery. She passed a year later of complications from Parkinson’s Disease, but at least it wasn’t the painful death of cancer.
My bittersweet realization came when I was 48 yrs young, and visited the Kennebunk Trolley Museum (Maine). During the 1960’s, as a teenager, me and a few friends used to take the Boston Elevated into town several times during the summer. Now, at this museum, I saw a orange/cream white car…looks familiar….VERY familiar! In fact, I might have ridden on this actual car now in front of me, and it is A MUSEUM PIECE! (Now, so am I!)

Our provider is switching to annual fecal testing. Colonoscopies only if the AFT is positive.

My last colonoscopy, they let me watch. The ‘fantastic voyage’ almost made the preceding days worth it.
