“On line” (for “in line”) is typical of New York. I don’t know how big the area is where that idiom is found. It’s marginally more logical than “in line”, given the Grundbedeutungen of “in” and “on”, but prepositions don’t really have much of a meaning apart from the expressions they occur in.
