I have a relative who is like that. The house is perfect — too perfect. It looks like it just came out of a style magazine, i.e., it’s soulless. There’s a TV (not a huge one), and a few magazines, a bible, and that’s it for reading material. Oh yes, and perfect decorative touches, including beautiful vases with silk flowers and bowls of fake fruit.
Our house is opposite. Bookcases on almost every wall. We have a TV, but right now it is sitting on the coffee table and hidden by boxes. It is a big one my husband got when his dad dies about 7 years ago and we don’t use it. I think we hooked it up for a couple of months to watch DVDs, then just stopped. We would much rather read.
40" TV but mostly watch stuff on my 10" tablet. Have one tall bookcase completely filled with hardbacks, and enough books sitting loose in closets that i could fill 2 more bookcases. And that’s not even considering the 100s of electronic books on my computer and kindle, nor the huge collection of paperbacks my wife insisted I get rid of. Avid reader since forever.
Years ago, our neghbor came ovewr with her little 6 y.o. girl. She saw a bookcase in our living room, that had just a dozen or so books on it (we had a back room lined sith bookcases with our huge collection of paperbacks) and she said in astonishment “You have a library”! I suspect there were no books at her home.

Good call Tregg! You don’t need to hang around people whose attention span is the amount equal to the space of time between commercials.

I enjoy TV, and I enjoy reading. A house is not my house if it doesn’t have books.
