By presenting ever more challenging puzzles, we are training raccoons and squirrels to replace us as the most intelligent species on the planet after we wipe ourselves out.

I am on my 3rd locking container for my bird food. The first two the raccoons had no problem figuring out how to unlock it. So far they have take to climbing the trees and just unscrewing the screws that hold the tops on so they fall to the ground.

I used to put a cinder block on top of my trash can and then the raccoons just scratched through the side of it.

I got a locking can from our trash company to keep our local bears from tossing trash all over the place. It has a Master paddle lock on it. Now they just throw the whole can around.

Raccoons are one of those species that might potentially succeed us, they have dexterous little hands that can DO stuff, the only thing holding them back for now is that they’re only about as smart as dogs, but the right selection pressure can turn them into Rocket, without the need for cybernetics.

I built a bird feeder for the wife that squirrels CANNOT get to. It’s been 6 years, they don’t even try anymore. Total cost: $48USD. Ha Ha Ha Ha Haaaaaa!

The raccoon is the official animal of the COVID pandemic. It wears a mask and washes its hands.

While they’re there, try to get them to help you open the trash can.
