I’ve tried something like that for around the house projects; the wife does not approve.

Schedules are wonderful — sometimes.

Faster? Absolutely! More efficient? Absolutely not!

We will just see how effective this schedule is when Calvin goes to school the next day.

If Calvin put the same gray matter into his work as he does coming up with ways to get out of doing work, he’d be a Rhodes Scholar by age 12.

My homework blocks aren’t THAT extremely small, but I still feel like I’m being called out here.

Calvin as you apply that much on planning, you get your homework done.

The question is, does Calvin still do a good job on the assignments?

If he could do half his homework in the first minute, half of the remaining homework in the next minute, one-eighth of the original homework in the following minute, one half of the remaining in one minute…

Ah, the good old dial timer, with a five minute minimum. How many remember?

When I weigh all the time I spent on doing homework and getting perfect grades against the amount of education I actually derived from the experience, it makes me want to sit in a quiet corner and have a good cry.

It’s a good start Calvin, but your plan needs a modification to get passing grades. Try lengthening the amount of time you spend on each subject, or go 20 minutes – get up and stretch for 5 minutes, and try another 20 minutes until you have it all done. Same for other subjects you have homework in.
