British royalty could do a pubic service by buying junk jewelry engagement rings. Set a good example for everyone else.

Ask him what’d he pay if you try selling it back and you’ll get the real value and that will be well below the junk level quoted

I was window shopping with my girlfriend while we were in Miami Beach. We walked into a jewelry store with no customers but had an armed guard. The merchant asked if we had an appointment? I said we are just browsing. I saw a pretty bracelet and asked how much it costs. She said $250,000. I looked at my girlfriend and we busted out laughing. Looking back I should have kept a straight face and asked if they took credit cards.

About 25 years ago, a friend of mine and his bride didn’t want the standard gold engagement ring and wedding bands. They couldn’t afford platinum ones, so they opted for palladium rings which were at that time cheaper than gold or platinum.

Some of us kidded him about being cheap… Who’s laughing now?

Today’s market asking prices for gold is $1,703.90 / silver – $15.58 / platinum – $772 / and palladium is $1,950 !
