I have been a fan of Calvin & Hobbes for a lot of years and I have been reading Go Comics for a few years. Now that I live and work in China, it is still good to have a bit of Americana to look forward to.
For me, Calvin & Hobbes is all the more relevant because I am in China and believe me, they need an ethicator over here. All that aside, all of your comments are very good and I enjoy reading them.
As for today’s panel, yes, boy scouts may seem easy to exploit, but are they really and will Calvin learn from this or go one his merrily way/
Jierui
I also have been following Calvin and Hobbes since it appeared in the 1980s, and my daughter +I bot each other the latest Calvin+Hobbes books for every gift-giving occasion. Now that I’ve moved to Thailand I especially love I can see my all-time fave cartoon online.
While I haven’t moved to China or Thailand, I recently moved to Tennessee, which is a lot like a third world country. It has been interesting to see how some of the politician’s thinking here mirrors Calvin’s at it’s most dangerous.
Destiny23 that episode was called “Mirror, Mirror”, my all time favorite Star Trek. Loved Spock in that one. Of course, Spock was my favorite character.
Maybe it would be more like “Back to the Future” If Marty from the past meets Marty from the future, it could disrupt the whole time continuum.
If good Calvin meets bad Calvin, it could cause a Duplicator melt down and transport this arc to a whole new dimension through a dark hole???
…… it could happen!
Hey all both guys from Star Trek are now both 80. William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy his birthday in today’s celebraty birthdays.
jerry.chaney question for you I hope to see your answer, while you lived in China and Thailand are there any American made products there? Here at home mostly China products. I know products in China are cheaper made. ABC did a documented a home for American made products only kitchen sink stayed rest China or Japan made.
I believe I rather have a Calvin around. Then this strip wouldn’t be Calvin.

good morning Calvin&Hobbes fans ! I’ve been seeing your comments for years on my google home page, so i decided to register and come say hello myself ! I love enjoying a cup of coffee while reading C&H plus comments before my news, its how i start my day everyday.
Hello from Juneau Alaska !
I’m having trouble imagining an “evil” Calvin. Does anyone else fing that difficult? Of course a very naughty Calvin is EASY to imagine. He’s the one we know and love.
Let’s hope the ethicator doesn’t get set to that ‘evil’ setting.
Right, Andy. I have never thought of Calvin as evil, just a somewhat typical boy with a very active imagination and a little (or a lot of) mischievousness in him. And it is also typical that these type kids can show their good sweet or so innocent side (like at church) to others to which they will comment on how well behaved they are. Mom and Dad usually cringe at those comments, but bask in them never the less.
Hobbes - digging for gold presumably. To take a different tack on the ongoing discussion of the “ethicator”, the man who is the false messiah/anti-christ will do some ethicating on this planet the likes of which has never before been seen by man - as it states in the 11th or 12th Commandment (I forget which) ” Thou Shalt Keep Thy Seatbelt fastened at ALL times”…
I know that Calvin’s “Duplicator,” as well as his “Transmogifier” are only figments of his imagination, but he is what. 6 or 7 years old? What is this “kid,” this evil/good genius going to do with this when he is an adult? Or even 14 or 15 (never forget Doogy Houser.) 45 or more years ago when I was in Jr. High, I had a friend who was making miniature radios, the size that fit into the plastic boxes that lapel pins come in. I often wonder if John wound up working for someone like the CIA? (John, if you’re out there…)
How can Calvin’s mom not realize that Calvin is at home, in his room? When I am in my house, I certainly realize if someone else is home too. Calvin cannot be that silent, and surely has to come out of his room at one point, for food or bathroom.

What happens if the duplicate Calvin duplicates himself still ? Won’t there would be too much good around for the real Calvin to stomach or tackle ?

That duplicator sounds complicated . When it comes to Calvin all that goodness is wishful thinking. I dont believe it.

Watch out, Calvin – where there’s a Good Side, there’s also an Evil Side. Remember Star Trek, when Kirk was split in two…

So if Good Calvin and bad Calvin meet? The end of the universe? Oh, No! Oh, Wait, that was a different Star Trek!!!

The epitome of corruption: exploiting oneself.
Haha, loving it!

Thirdguy, that was Lazarus. That’s a good name for Calvin, when you think about it.

Calvin grew up to invent those risky mortgages we heard so much about. Sounds just like our Wall Street types before the “recession.”

Good Morning to you as well marg!
And I am sure that Calvin will try to exploit this situation to it’s utmost.

So, the logical way for “Ethical Calvin” to make -everyone’s- life easier, is to duplicate himself..

It is kind of funny. I think of a “good” Calvin as well groomed, couteous, and humble, however, I think an “evil” or opposite Calvin the same way.

Yeah, Hobbes, the Ethicator had to go all the way down to one level of the subconscious below where you come from. That’s pretty deep.
