While I’m 99% sure Dan T will let Sopapilla live, I’m still a little afraid he will let her die as an excuse to turn R.J. into some sort of loveless paladin working for whoever can afford him.
R.J. may continually meet and seduce a stream of toothsome ladies, but he will never fall in love with any of them.
Wait, does that sound like anyone else in the secret agent game?
P.S.: Dan T needs to tighten up his prose! In the second panel, R.J. says:
“I came instead of Rip…Bravo Coltrane, who was supposed to be our leader, shot Sopapilla! He was hired by Jenkins to X (sic) them out!”
I must admit to being completely unfamiliar with the verb: “to X.” It appears to be a transitive verb, since it seems to require an object to act upon.
I must admit to being intrigued by it. The possibilities of what it might mean are not only manifold, but limitless!
However, getting back to the original quote, how about rewriting it as:
“I came, not Rip… Coltrane, our supposed leader, shot Sopapilla! Jenkins hired him to X (sic) them out!”
This should allow Dan T enough white space to tell us what he meant!
Did Cobra really expect RJ to charge somebody for getting even with Jenkins? Not only isn’t it the Haywire way, it’s something Cobra would do as well, though she’d probably keep the original fee she was paid to find, and, take out Jenkins, if at all possible. (A girl’s got to eat, dress in sexy action clothes, buy weapons, etc.)
This is an unexpectedly ferociously protective side of Cobra that I, as the mom of an adult son, kind of dig. I guess she saves the ka-snark for Rip. Ka-sniff! He’s all grown up!

Yet Coltrane stood there and did nothing more to them after wounding Sopapilla. What kind of mercenary is that dense?

A little recapping always makes the drive seem shorter.

You know someone’s bad when even Cobra thinks they’re rotten!

And looking more like Rip, too… The only real difference is that RJ can recap without pancakes.
