With lots of large hardwood trees in his yard, my brother was always dragging dead limbs off his lawn into the woods, His golden retriever would drag them back when he wasn’t paying attention. He even tried keeping her inside, but the minute she’d be let out, the limbs would be dragged back if they had his scent. Myra was smart enough to know this was wrong, but she enjoyed pulling his chain.
I’ve introduced our little guy to the joys of burrowing under the throw on my lap to find his toy. He pounces like an arctic fox going under the snow then shovels with his nose until he gets it. Sometimes he stays up to wrestle me for it after he’s got it. I think he just likes the contact; he’s very much a toucher.

If you can’t find the stick, get the tree. Don’t return empty handed.

I could see my old Shepherd trying to do that. She loved playing fetch. RIP Raksha. (She’s been gone 35+ years now)
