Philo T Farnsworth was optimistic about his invention, television, and inevitably disappointed. However now, at least, we can find good stuff in either technology.
I don’t think the “internet” (as in, “the interactive web as you know it today”) was a thing yet in 1990. Usenet, maybe. Gopher, maybe. Hell, streaming didn’t even work properly until like 200x at the earliest: before that you’d get disconnected by the reflectors once there was too much traffic, and the networks simply couldn’t handle the load (T3 and T4 if you were lucky). I set up one of the first WWW servers we had at the university where I worked back in 1993 or 1994, and the web was very new at that time. I don’t think anyone back then pictured viral videos of TikTok challenges as the future. We were all too enthralled by spinning globes and blinking text.

And also the minds of Millennials who think they’re experts in everything but live in their parent’s basements eating avocado toast.
