What are you doing for Memorial Day?

That’s next Monday! Bummer. But no greetings for Mother’s Day a few weeks ago from your side.

Today, it’s Ascension Day and Father’s Day here in Germany. Time for happy activities.

To answer your question: For next Monday, we have invited a Korean student over for home-made pizza (I’ve got a professional oven for that). We wanted to visit the Munich Botanical Garden with her, but it’s still closed until further notice.

And regarding Peter: I assume he wonders what she meant, thus his sarcastic remark. Apart from that: there’s the perfect fog machine (better than the polluting kind) right in front of him… I prefer dry ice.

This is the second day in a row that a comic strip has relevance to me. Last night two houses down the street from me burnt to the ground. The fire marshal suspects it was started by a BBQ gas explosion

Not a great year for get-togethers.

Here in California we’re still not inviting anybody over for anything…

Only people who live in the same house are allowed in… though I’m sure some break the rules.

There’s controversy over early “spikes” in Covid-19 cases, in states that have started letting people gather….

Some say, believably enough, it’s just that ramped up testing is revealing more infections, even if there are no new ones.

On the other hand… incubation can be three weeks, and another week or two to develop concerning symptoms… a bit longer for the case to be tested and reported…

So we won’t be sure it’s safe till at least June.

    I’m …um… mature… and medically somewhat vulnerable…

so until California reopens AND I see believable safety data…

I’ll celebrate Memorial day, and every upcoming holiday, just as I did Easter, Greek Easter, my birthday, Passover, and Mother’s day, 2020.

    Right here in this chair.

It’s not a cook out without a fog machine

You can still use the laser show, but you may want to cancel the ELO concert in the back yard.
