No, Breathless did not meet Shaky on a home visit. That’s poor research or a needless ret-con. Anyway, Fortuna is offering Shaky a part in the movie. Who guessed that was coming up? I know someone mentioned it.
Amazing how this story seems to be put together with a chainsaw….day before yesterday he is at dinner with fortuna, yesterday he comes home late and hints at some nookie before bed, today he’s out to dinner again…and guess what?
WE STILL HAVE NO FRIGGIN IDEA WHAT’S GOING ON HERE!
Snowflake Falls was a successful model and actress who married Vitamin Flintheart. Together they became a famous acting pair in the theatre and were signed by Hollywood for a series of movies together. Eventually, I believe they also became radio stars. Snowflake contracted some kind of disease and passed away naturally leaving Vitamin completely heartbroken. (Vitamin had not appeared in the strip for several years and mentioned her death when he was brought back into the strip years later.)
How she relates to this story is that before she married Vitamin she went on a date with the original Shaky. He kidnapped her and drugged her to the point where she was little more than his zombie. He caused her to help him scam money out of a Tracytown banker. But on making her getaway she accidentally got into Tracy’s car thinking it was Shaky’s. The narcotic wore off and Tracy and team set a trap for Shaky by having Vitamin cast her in a play but Shaky got wise to the plan and beat Snowflake brutally and tried to drown her (he had kidnapped both Vitamin and Snowflake at the time). It was this adventure that seemed to cause Vitamin and Snowflake to fall in love. It was also a May/December romance like the one between Vitamin and Kandikane.
When Breathless first appeared, she was unaware of her mother’s marriage to Shaky. I am not aware that the incident Fortuna mentions today ever took place within the context of the original story. I thought her mother said she never met him.
I was in a discussion last night on Facebook about the Mr. Crime II story, one of Mike’s early arcs. Mike should go back and review some of his early work. For purposes of the discussion, I went back and re-read the story. The tale had a defined story, moved quickly like a whirlwind, there was plenty of action, there was Gould-level gruesomeness with man-eating fish and man-eating plants, there were brutal murders with Double-Up’s whip, it included Gould villains and newly created villains, the whole MCU got involved. There were no long episodes of talking heads. It was an epic and was much better than the slow pacing and confusing logic and plots we have had in recent stories.
(By the way @Neil Wick: you have an error on your DT Storylines web page. You have the first part of the Mr. Crime story going from the end of October 2011 until December 2 2011. Actually there were only a few strips of Mr. Crime then the entire first Abner Kadaver story which started around Halloween 2011 [you don’t list the first Abner Kadaver at all]. Then following the Abner Kadaver story we have one day of a return to Panda and Mr Crime texting each other. The actual conclusion and climax of the Mr. Crime story takes place months later as you correctly note. Mike usually kept a couple of plots going at the same time in those days and the Mr. Crime story was teased months before we knew what was going on. The stories were much more intertwined then.)
Fortuna-“Breathless” is looking more “normal” (if that’s even possible!) as she offers Shaky Mk.2 a bit part as his uncle, the original Shaky, in her movie. I imagine without surprise that she has considerable creative control over the entire project.
But his going one night after another with Fortuna must surely alert the comely and delectable Edison Lighthouse to the probability of hanky-panky. It would not be out of character if next time she followed him to “work” and found out the truth of how he’s been spending his evenings.
And then he will reap the whirlwind. Or, maybe a catfight will ensue. One way or another, some conflict seems inevitable….

Good morning™, job offerers !
“Breathless” actually sounds honestly credible with this. Shaky still has something up his sleeve besides a hairy arm.

Are we back to dinner with the conspirators from Wednesday, or, is this a second dinner meeting?

“It’s the scene where Breathless finds Shaky’s corpse. Since I’m a Method actress, I’m going to insist on…authenticity.”

“Yes, you’ll play Shaky. It’s the scene where I find you dead. Don’t worry, I’ve got a little something that will help play dead real good!”

Fortuna: I’d like you to play the part. The pay is half a grand and all the appletinis you can drink without spilling.

1-JAY: You’d be surprised at how much other diners enjoy the smoke from my El Stinko cigars. And they’re shockingly inexpensive!
2-FORTUNE: Well, you’d be surprised at how they turn on a lady.
3-JAY: Good thing you’re no lady. Heh heh. WOOOO! Is that your foot or did one of the rodents in the dump just crawl into my lap?
FORTUNE: Does it matter if it feels good?
JAY: Well, it kind of does. WOOOO HOOO! MAYBE NOT! WAITER! CHECK! NOW!
