A typical Pavane (if you looked it up in dancing resources) is where a two people dance as one, doing the same movements in near-perfect synchronization. Then at certain musical cues they split up to join the person behind them and proceed to dance away from their original partner. Then they do it again and again and again. If the two people really like each other they work their way around the dance floor carefully strategizing their movements so when the song ends they end up with their original partner. For most people it was a way to properly meet others without awkward formal introductions.
It makes sense for Pavane to have a dance name. I had to look the word up, but I guessed it would be a dance, especially since her “mom” is named Gavotte.

This was the old time version of “speed dating.”
