My granpa would do that followed by my gramma saying

My dad used to say this whenever someone passed a good one: 1- The senator from that great state of (fill in your favorite state name here) wishes to speak,

2 -only if this fart was silent….. “Does anybody smell popcorn?”

Sure do miss that man sometimes.
