A bit surprising he has proof for one of his whoppers. All of a sudden the universe looks a lot stranger.

No ya dummy southerner, ah’s from down east. Do ah sound like a Kennedy? Ah ken tell the difference between an “H” and an “R”. An”R” is never used at the end of a word. but may be substituted by an “H”. Don’t they teach grammah down south?

Hey, Bill Thompson! I’m proud of you. Yours is the only Lovecraft reference in the Comments, and it’s the 1st thing I thought of when I read this comic. Great minds think alike, I suppose.

When you pay $5 for it to fish with, it’s Squid. When you pay $10 for it as an appetizer, it’s Calamari

I wonder if it’s vice versa in Italy.

    Squid,oh squid… Under the sea… Now a tender… Delicacy…

Better to hide… ‘Neath the sea… Than an appetizer… To be…

But for one… Living in the sea… How easy it is… To capture thee…

bmonk, I got up to page 389 in the Necronomicon and I could read no further. Fortunately that was the page with the secret of making good chocolate chip cookies so it was all right.

I read Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath when I was on summer break during college (a while back). I was sitting in an arm chair in my parents’ home in Marblehead, Massachusetts when I got to the punch line at the end of the story. When Marblehead was mentioned by name, I couldn’t help laughing out loud…. (It is a pretty town, btw, and gem-like in its own way.) However, I’m not so much of a Lovecraft fan that Chtulhu was the first thing I thought of (and I’m a little sad about that)….
