There can’t be anything noisier or more prehistoric-sounding than sandhill cranes. Especially at 5:00 am (for weeks). Loons, on the other hand, are pleasant and calming. Even at 5:00 am.

The whole ritual was shot to hell when they changed the rules…

Nothing can outdo the NBC peacock in color. Anyway, this breed, according to National Geographic and David Attenborough, only clap their bills together with an occasional Do-Si-do.

Obviously, it’s not worth crowing about.
