Baldo: Dang! This car is tight! Customer: You like it? Baldo: It's totally awesome! Customer: So... you like it? Baldo: Actually I forgot to subtract the disinterest.
That looks nothing like a ‘64 Impala and I know from the times that the strip’s gone photo-realist that the artists can do better!
For $50K, it would need to be either a 100-point rotisserie resto or an immaculate low-mileage time-capsule example of a high-and-rare-spec convertible with the most desirable engine option OR a pro-built lowrider/custom with high-quality work done throughout. Baldo should and would know that if he’s as obsessed with these cars as he seems to be.
If you want $50K for your ‘64 Chevy, you send it to Barrett-Jackson, don’t try to sell it to a part-time store clerk at the local strip mall…
Baldo, you can’t afford a ‘64 Impala convertible; you’re looking at spending around $20K+ for one that’s not a total basket case, and that’s without the insurance and upkeep, but you can likely pick up a driver sedan that you can work on and use to get to work & school for about $5-$7K.
Geez, give Hector a break. It’s hard to come up with exact drawings to satisfy nitpickers! Even GBT get some of his drawings wrong in Doonesbury (and he does a vey good job).
Please learn the difference between ‘disinterest’ and ‘uninterest’. They are NOT the same. ‘Disinterest’ means ‘interested but neutral’. It is NOT the opposite of ‘interest’. In theory, a trial judge should be disinterested until the verdict is in. You’d be annoyed if he was uninterested. Uninterested’ means ‘don’t want to know’. The average kid in class in uninterested. Baldo is trying to feign ‘uninterest’ in order to negotiate. If he was disinterested, he could be interested enough to see what somebody else pays but he would not be negotiating.

I hate to nitpick cos I like this strip but:

And I just noticed it’s got a ghost from Pac Man in the driver’s seat.

If he was close, it wouldn’t be an issue. ‘64 Impala was square front and rear. No fins and 4 headlights. He’s done better in the past

Plods, Don’t they have steering wheels where you come from?

I don’t know cars, but I’m willing to accept Gweedo’s scenario. It’s a customized Impala, after all.
Back when Jose Canseco was playing in Oakland he shelled out huge bucks for a Jaguar, then had it customized until it was basically just a Corvette.
