Best way to avoid debt collectors is not to go into debt.

Hey Nabuquduriuzhur: how about you leave your personal life at home…while you’re at it leave the political diatribe there too. I read this to laugh not listen to whining. Thanks.

And he looks like a vulture. Quite appropriate for a debt collector, no?

I thought a debt collector was somebody who had six credit cards, three mortgages, two home equity loans and was just walking into the payday loan shop…

Our business has been plagued for 5 years by a debt collector trying to collect a bill for a T1 from Verizon that we never ordered and never received, and they admit that there is no signature. Someone screwed up an order (maybe someone else is mad that they never got their T1), but they won’t fix their records. I guess they are hoping that if they annoy us enough we’ll cough up a couple grand for nothing.

My daughter got scammed by a company offering a free 30 day trial for a cosmetic. She hated it before a week was up, but the 800 number for returns didn’t work, and email was not responded to - for a month. It was impossible to get an RMA for a return. So she called the credit card company to complain, and they couldn’t contact this company either - so they reversed the charge and sent her a new card. But the sleazy company sold the debt to a collection agency (so they got some cash out of it anyway), which now hounds her.

Always use a credit card for online sales. The arbitration service that the CC companies provides is invaluable, especially when the company is honest, but just screwed up. The CC company is motivated to just keep the transactions flowing (so they can collect their 5%), so they have no bias toward either vendor or customer.

When I get calls for debt collections, I just get my whistle.

Regarding your earlier post, a hearty “Amen and Hallelujah”!

It gets instantly tiresome to read his prattling.

    fredusmc75,

I see nothing wrong with Nab’s comment! I fits the strip as far as I’m concerned!
