We had a neighbor like that. He worked to earn enough money to drink. When the government decided he had a service related disability, they provided the money he and his wife needed to stay drunk. She was injured and he was too drunk to seek help ere she died. Then I guess he had more money for himself for even harder drinking. Then HE died.

He started dying with that first drink. Poor fellow.

Well, he’s certainly honest about what he would do with the money.

Listen kid, look me up when you’re a philanthropist in practice.

Agnes gives to make herself feel better. He takes to make himself feel better. Win — win.

When your life has hit rock bottom and you start moving forward again and fall off a cliff to reach a new rock bottom, the choice becomes torture yourself with life or drink yourself to death. I have hit rock bottom 4 times and fallen off 3 cliffs. Next cliff i start drinking.

The answer to his question is just what Agnes said: “Yes, it will.”

Time to take Agnes off my list. Yesterday it was racism, today a judgment against homeless people.
