at first I cooked all the time but as this goes on I am starting to hate cooking. Lots of sandwiches, TV dinner, and a few order in. Getting to hot to cook anyway.
We haven’t had much change in our dining habits. We never dined out that much and and take out has only increased in proportion to the dining out we aren’t doing. We have always had leftovers for some meals so Mondays (the day before trash day) is still “Restaurant” night.
We had reached the point where we ate lunch out daily at Wendys, junior burger plain for me, two junior burgers regular for him, free senior sodas and we donate at the end of the year for two key chains to get free junior frostys when we buy anything else (lunch for two US$3.88 total). Friday night we would go out for our “expensive” meal of the week at at Asian buffet. Sunday night we would go to the Ikea cafeteria for dinner. Saturday night we would go to a different Wendys for dinner & then a movie at local independent theater. Monday – Thursday basically bought what we wanted to have for dinner that night, perhaps for 2 nights dinners. Not much food in the house.
Shopped in the early March buying some extra food, just in case. Mid March went into supermarket & bought in panic mode on husband’s part, what he thought might carry us thru 2 weeks & I figured at least a month. Mid May had to buy food again, though I figured we had well over 2 weeks food left. Last week needed to buy bread (5 loaves of course) so food shopped again.
We cut back how much we eat to about 2/3 of normal and no soup before dinner. For lunch husband has 1/2 can of soup, before he would have had full can. I have a peanut butter (nothing added) sandwich.
I lost 15 lbs. He does not weigh himself, but I had to take his jeans in 2 inches as they were falling off of him with a belt and suspenders hurt his shoulders. Possibly we will be do part of a virtual reenactment event with our unit next month – I made him try on his breeches to see if I need to take them in – his older ones fit, his current ones fall off. I tried on my stays and I think they will stay in place.

Well it is ONLY a Pandemic, not the Apocalypse. Don’t want to dig into the stored rations too early.

Save the good stuff for the celebration when it’s over or the manic “Screw-It Festival”.

Yeah…
You start with big plans for all the things you can cook with time on your hands…
But alone, it devolves into “it’s only for me… what’s quick?”

So not everyone puts ground meat in their nacho topping? Is that a New England thing?

I think it’s kinda like snow days… one would think one would have more time to get stuff done, but one would be wrong (at least me)
