“Cheer up,” they said “Things could be worse”. So, I cheered up, and, sure enough, things got worse.

“It’s always darkest just before it goes completely black!”

The old: So you were in an accident and your broke your leg? Well, it could’ve been worse…

I used to be able to play the game “what’s the worst that could happen” to cheer me up, and then I got kids. The worst kept me up nights.

Then imagine all the ways things could be better and you’re back to feeling down.

Now matter how bad things are now, they could always have been worse

When things look their bleakest, I say to myself ‘Cheer up! Things could get worse.’ And sure enough, things get worse.
