Not much of a reader of Mr. King. I presume that The Stand has a plot similar to what real life is currently dishing out.

one of the more chilling lines (to me) from The Stand was when the pandemic was starting , where asymptomatic

people would infect others: “After his meal in the diner, he left a five dollar tip laced with death”

Try The End of October published very recently and very prophetic.

I didn’t quote that exactly, but the last four words were accurate

Weeks ago, King got on social media and said this was not like his novel.

The climax of “The Stand” was a blast! Literally.

Along with Pinkser’s “A Song for a New Day.”

And “Earth Abides”.

Had to look it up… so this is all King’s fault?

Our local bookstore has a sign out front – “Dystopian literature can now be found in current events.”

I read that right before the pandemic started. I watched the ABC miniseries right after it started.

Right next to the books about Swiss cheese, with all of the holes in the plot.
