Groucho’s famous question: How do you get down off an elephant? You don’t, you get down off a duck.

Freely stolen from “You Bet Your Life”

Don’t fall for his fluff talk, he only wants to get you into bed.

    Colt9033, the pillow isn’t down, it’s synthetic.

Is Hilburn on an elevator kick? Last week, the floor fell out of an elevator. Now this. Maybe he figured the only thing that should ride in an elevator was a soft, cushy pillow.

There are still places with elevator operators?

Your job sure has its ups and downs. They aren’t so bad, it’s the jerks.

    Oh ‘tis so true.

Maybe the pillow wanted one that would go horizontally.

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, pillows used to be stuffed with the little feathers close to the duck’s body called the “down”. Even when it was discovered that getting rid of the lice before stuffing would make sleeping more comfortable, some people were still allergic to the feathers. And if the feathers escaped, they would tickle the nose. This is also why in ancient cartoons there are fluffy things flying all around the room during a pillow fight. At some point people started stuffing pillows with various kinds of foam (after foam was invented), culminating in the memory-foam pillows we have today for ultimate sleep enjoyment. Ergo, “Down?”/”Synthetic.”

I did not mind the long comment. I use a natural rubber foam and only silk charmeuse over mine, as it does not crease my face (a single layer of fabric)!
