America is wealthier? I always thought it was poorer. And when I was a kid, we resented Americans constantly telling us how great they were. It was like having a cousin who would come over every day and tell you how awesome his house was, but you’d been to his house and it smelled funny.

I am already not going to be her friend.

PS: I grew up in a town in NM from which came an astronaut. We thought he was pretty cool, but then he became a state Senator and turned into pretty much of an anal sphincter.

(and yes, with those clues, you probably can figure out where I grew up)

My experience is that Oregonians don’t worry too much about the rest of the country, they feel they live in the coolest place anyway.

A bit too parochial for me. Pretty much everywhere resents somewhere. If you think resenting will help, do lots of it …
