The Orange Menace has saved kitten Oliver before (that’s right at the beginning of the TC saga) …now it’s time to do so again and get that baby home safely. The Loading Dock punishment can wait!!!!!
National Sugar Cookie Day. I like sugar cookies but they’re too much trouble to make them today (besides, I have to work today) and the ones you buy in the store are nowhere near as good as homemade ones. So I’ll pass on the cookies.
Well, my Wednesday at work was much better than my Tuesday. For one thing, “Mr Hummer” was not there. I spent the majority of my day printing labels reducing the prices on hundreds of annual flowers. It’s really hard to get my hands on a price scanner these days, so once I had glommed onto one, I started just printing bunches and bunches of labels. I was concentrating first on plants we have a lot of like the 161 four-packs of moss rose and the 90 or so 4-packs of vincas and I lost count of the petunias, but it was more than 250 labels I printed for those and I’m not sure I printed enough. I didn’t take the time to stick any of those on the plants. Now I have several hundred labels to put on plants Thursday and if my “hummer” is there, I can give him labels to stick on plants too. But he drives me crazy because I once gave him a couple hundred or so labels to put on plants while I was at lunch and he only got about half of them done in the hour I was gone. I finished the second half in about 15 minutes while he was on his meal break. Anyway, enough about him. After printing several rolls of labels for plants we still have a lot of, I started printing labels for stuff we have in lower numbers – like 18 New Guinea impatiens and 17 Begonias, etc and I stuck those labels on the plants right away. But now I’m expecting to have a good Thursday because I won’t need to hunt down a price scanner right away. It’ll take quite a while to stick my pre-printed labels on plants before I need to print more for other plants. Yes, I’m still mad that so many plants were allowed to die (and many of those that are alive don’t look well). But now I move on and do what I can to save and sell the rest.
OK, Chesney, how did you get from driving the tractor past a cop car to the alley Oliver is trapped in? However you did it, your presence is welcome to Oliver (and the rest of us) – the dogs, not so much.
There are several comics I read on Arcamax that aren’t part of GoComics. Arcamax recently changed its comments sections to facebook members only. I thought I would be among the minority but it looks like I was wrong. Day after day, no comments at all on so many strips. Even Bizzaro, which always had a gazillion comments, has dropped off. Today, there were zero. Why would Arcamax do that? I think GoComics should buy up the others. They’d get a lot of new members.
I got to face my mortality yesterday. I went to the drug store and grocery store (wearing a mask of course). It was 93°, heat index was 97°. It felt like I was walking in a steel mill (which I have done in the past). With every step from my detached garage to the house I could feel my strength drain away. The weather bureau said that we were the 3rd hottest city in the nation. So two things: 1) I went shopping this morning at 8 am when i was 77° (going to be a heat index over 104 today), and 2) How did our grandparents live without air-conditioning???
Hooray! Chesney is here to save the day! On another note, saw a rabbit and a robin while out walking today. I also saw another rabbit and two other robins on the way to the library.

If I knew my rear hole was in close proximity to the Orange Terror, I’d be very, very worried.
