If those fleas are that strong, Annie really has a battle on her hands getting rid of them. There probably isn’t a flea spray, bomb or bath strong enough to kill those fleas without hurting the cats too.
It is also my dad’s birthday. If he was still alive, he’d be 106 today. Wow – on November first, it will be 30 years ago that he died. Hard to believe!
From yesterday’s comments, Mary said, “I made the mistake of sitting down on the ground at Laytown races on the beach in Ireland a few years ago. The bites of sand fleas are the itchiest I’ve ever endured.”
That reminds me of a movie I saw once – some kind of war movie, I think it was. One member of the squad slapped at a sand flea and the Sgt (or whoever was in charge) made the men hunt for that dead sand flea so they could bury it. He was making the point that slapping the sand flea made a noise the enemy could have heard which would give away their position and could get them all killed. I’ve been trying like crazy to remember the name of that movie, but I can’t remember. Just that one scene stands out for me – I don’t remember anything else about the movie. It’s been so many years ago when I saw it. Can anyone help me remember what movie this was?
I had a bad scare while driving home from work Friday night. Here I was, way out in the “boonies” (in the country) when suddenly, a kid on a bike with no headlight crossed this busy highway right in front of me. I slammed on the brakes and did not come terribly close to hitting him, but I certainly came close enough to scare the daylights out of me. If I had not seen him in time, I would have killed him for sure. No way I’d have avoided hitting him if I had not seen him. He was crossing the highway to join up with a couple friends on bikes. Only one bike – the one in the lead – had a headlight. This was after 11:00 at night. What are kids doing out riding bikes at that time of night? And on such a busy highway? What kind of parents would allow their kids to do that? It was impossible to tell their ages for certain since it was so dark, but by the size of the kids (what little glimpse I got as I drove past them) I’d judge them to be young teens – maybe 14 or 15.
The dry wall guy and his son were here yesterday. They did both our house and Dianes’. I locked the cats in the bedroom and Blackjack was NOT happy. (yes, they had water) I had to do it because the guys were in and out of the front door and my babies are inside cats. The guys will be back on Monday to sand and texture the area.
There are four levels of Covid-19 crisis level in Ohio across the river from me. Athens County went to level 3 (out of 4) mostly due to the actions of three downtown bars just off campus from Ohio University. Although this is a small population county where Joe Barrow is from, it probably will be the first county to reach level 4. In my state, the county that West Virginia University is in is in a similar sad state to the ire of our governor.
Hilarious! Either those are some really strong fleas or Chesney is sleepwalking lying down! XD On another note, saw a robin, a millipede, four rabbits, and a squirrel while out walking today.
It is so hot here (heat index about 105 today), I put ice cubes in Toto’s water today to help her say a little bit cool. Also gave her a piece of cold corn on the cob. Her foot is looking a lot better today!!!

Fleas aren’t that strong. They must have hired some ants.

Is Ches going to be surprised to wake up in the impound yard and realize no one is going to pay the fine to get him out.
